Founded in 1984 by Dr. P. G. Visvanathan, a veteran ENT specialist with 50+ years of experience. Vikram ENT Hospital pioneered cochlear implant surgery in India. Dr. Visvanathan trained under Prof. Graeme Clark, inventor of cochlear implant, during his 1968 fellowship at the
Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Melbourne.
He also helped launch India’s indigenous cochlear implant programme in the late 1990s,
under Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s leadership.
